ABOUT QUANTUM THEATRE
Quantum Theatre tours nationally with new adaptations of classic texts and Shakespeare plays and predominantly works a Summer and a Winter Season, but throughout the year we continue our outreach work into Secondary School with faithful adaptations of classic texts and Primary Schools with plays written to support the core subjects of the National Curriculum.
All Quantum productions are written/adapted and directed by the Artistic Director, Michael Whitmore, whose work captures the essence and spirit of the original texts whilst presenting them in a fast-paced, tightly choreographed and highly entertaining style. He has written over thirty five plays including adaptations of classic texts and new work on the National Curriculum for Science, Maths and English, pieces on World War One, environmental issues and the Olympics. He continues to create new work for the company every year and still conceives, designs and directs all the company's output.
Jessica Selous Is Co-Artistic Director and works with Michael to bring all the company's productions to the stage. She helps design productions, paints the sets, creates the costumes, animal heads, puppets and makes and sources all the props. She cuts the musical tracks together for the shows and also creates the images and publicity for all Quantum productions.
Gideon Escott writes and arranges the music for all Quantum Productions and has written over twenty new scores for the company as well as arranging folk songs, nursery rhymes and old standards for various productions. Gideon's music underscores nearly all of Quantum's output.
Quantum Theatre has been touring for over thirty years and continues to tour into all manner of venues across the UK, including theatres and arts centres, National Trust and English Heritage venues, National Trust for Scotland venues, castles, parks and gardens, schools and community halls, and other more unusual indoor and outside venues, ensuring that all communities across the UK have access to the company's work and helping bring theatre to those who may not ordinarily have access to experience a live performance.
